In the second quarter of 2021, Sweden was able to restore its exports of softwood lumber to almost 2020 levels.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Supplies to foreign markets amounted to 3.677 million m\u00b3, although exports in the first quarter were 12% lower than in the same period of 2020.<\/p>\n

The key factor in stabilizing exports was a noticeable increase in supplies to European countries - plus 21.1% to 2.340 million m\u00b3.\u00a0According to the Swedish Forestry Federation (Skogsindustrierna), exports to the UK increased by 53.2% to 759.5 thousand m\u00b3, and the UK's share in total Swedish exports to Europe was almost 32%.\u00a0Exports to Spain added 56% to 36.7 thousand m3, Ireland - 95% to 52 thousand m3, Italy - 54% to 17.1 thousand m3.<\/p>\n

In terms of deliveries outside Europe, in the second quarter, the volume fell sharply by 25.9% compared to the previous year and amounted to 1.277 million m\u00b3.\u00a0Here Sweden recorded the most noticeable decline in exports to Asia.<\/p>\n

With a reduction in supplies to China by 75.2% to 88.5 thousand cubic meters, exports to the region as a whole fell by 44.4% to 391.8 thousand cubic meters.<\/p>\n
