{"id":81194,"date":"2021-09-14T08:55:41","date_gmt":"2021-09-14T08:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/supply-situation-german-wood-market-easing-prices-expected-rise\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:56:04","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:56:04","slug":"supply-situation-german-wood-market-easing-prices-expected-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/supply-situation-german-wood-market-easing-prices-expected-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Supply situation in the German wood market is easing; prices expected to rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p><em>The situation on the German timber market has eased.\u00a0The supply crisis in the spring and summer of this year with too little wood, especially for the processing industry, is over.\u00a0Due to the calming of the sales market for sawn timber products, there is again enough wood for timber builders, joiners, carpenters and for the construction sector.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\"Everyone who likes to build with wood or want to use wood in other ways can count on a secure supply of wood,\" says the Chairman of the Board of Management of the Bavarian State Forests, Martin Neumeyer.<\/p>\n<p>Neumeyer anticipates a stable to moderately increasing price development for wood.\u00a0The prices of sawn timber have risen sharply in the last year and a half.\u00a0Prices are currently slowing.\u00a0In\u00a0contrast, roundwood\u00a0has only risen with a delay and has increased in price at a lower rate.\u00a0\"That is why I expect\u00a0stable to moderately rising prices\u00a0for roundwood\u00a0in the next six months at a level of around 120 euros to 140 euros per\u00a0cubic meter<dfn lang=\"\" title=\"Unit of measure for wood. One cubic meter without bark corresponds to one cubic meter (m\u00b3) of pure wood.\">\u00a0of<\/dfn>\u00a0fresh spruce with regional differences,\" Neumeyer continues.<\/p>\n<p>According to the head of the state forestry, the fact that the development of bark beetles in Germany's largest forestry operation is less dynamic this year than originally expected also contributes to this.\u00a0According to Neumeyer, there is significantly less bark beetle wood in Bavaria than in previous years.\u00a0\u201cThe Bavarian State Forests expect a further decline in bark beetle wood of around a quarter on their areas compared to 2020.\u00a0In 2020 there was already around a third less beetle wood than in the dry year 2019 \u201d, Neumeyer continues.<\/p>\n<p>The above-average rainfall in spring and summer in Bavaria has led to a filling of the groundwater level in many regions and thus to a better water supply for the tree roots and increased vitality of the trees.\u00a0In addition, the cool, humid periods have delayed the development of the bark beetle.\u00a0Apart from individual bark beetle focus regions such as the Franconian Forest with above-average drought in recent years, the\u00a0overall\u00a0damage caused by the\u00a0<dfn lang=\"\" title=\"Beetle family with 4,600 species worldwide, 95 of them in Germany. Some species have a tendency to mass reproduce and can cause severe forest damage. Copper engravers and book printers are of particular forest importance in Bavaria.\">bark beetle<\/dfn>\u00a0this year is manageable.<\/p>\n<p>According to the head of state forestry, the Bavarian State Forests want to further strengthen their commitment to the regional wood supply of small and medium-sized sawmills in Bavaria and the associated downstream industries such as local joineries and timber construction companies.\u00a0\"We want to offer more softwood than in the past fiscal year through our 41 forest operations throughout Bavaria and through our regional self-marketing channel,\" said state forest manager Neumeyer.<\/p>\n<p>The Bavarian State Forests expect continued high demand for wood in 2022.\u00a0According to Neumeyer, the sustainably produced raw material wood\u00a0will play an increasingly important role\u00a0in Bavaria as a climate\u00a0product\u00a0to avoid and reduce\u00a0<dfn lang=\"\" title=\"Chemical name for carbon dioxide.\">CO2<\/dfn>\u00a0emissions, especially in the construction industry.<\/p>\n<p>The Bavarian State Forests are the largest forest enterprise in Germany with an area of \u200b\u200baround 810,000 hectares.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The situation on the German timber market has eased.\u00a0The supply crisis in the spring and summer of this year with too little wood, especially for the processing industry, is over.\u00a0Due to the calming of the sales market for sawn timber &hellip;
