{"id":81106,"date":"2021-08-26T10:54:33","date_gmt":"2021-08-26T10:54:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/europes-largest-wood-pellet-producer-acquired-us-investment-fund\/"},"modified":"2025-09-18T17:22:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T17:22:18","slug":"europes-largest-wood-pellet-producer-acquired-us-investment-fund","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/europes-largest-wood-pellet-producer-acquired-us-investment-fund\/","title":{"rendered":"Europe\u2019s largest wood pellet producer acquired by US investment fund"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Apollo Global Management, Inc. announced that funds managed by its affiliates have agreed to acquire a majority stake in AS Graanul Invest, the largest producer of sustainable wood pellets in Europe \u2013 and one of the largest producers globally.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The transaction, which is expected to close later in 2021, is subject to antitrust and regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Graanul Invest is Europe's largest producer of wood pellets and is active in the production of bioenergy and renewable energy, forestry and the development of biomaterials.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-font font-size--text-xlarge margin-3--bottom\">\"Apollo will have an experienced strategic investor who is not only very familiar with our business, but who also understands the complexity of today's bioenergy industry and the opportunities to add value,\" said Raul Kireman, CEO of Graanul Invest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-font font-size--text-xlarge margin-3--bottom\">Founded in 1990, Apollo Global Management is an asset management company that manages approximately $ 460 billion in assets worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Through its 12 state-of-the-art pellet production plants located in the Baltics and U.S., Graanul manufactures sustainable wood pellets. The company also operates six combined heat and power plants in Estonia and Latvia and is one of the largest producers of renewable energy in the Baltic region, having generated more than 17% of all renewable bioelectricity in Estonia in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Graanul Invest owns 11\u00a0wood pellet plants in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.<sup id=\"cite_ref-err050518_7-1\" class=\"reference\"><\/sup>\u00a0It has an annual production of around 1.7 million tons of wood pellets. Its main export markets for pellets are the United kingdom, Denmark, Sweden, and Italy.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Last year, Graanul Invest earned a net profit of \u20ac53.5 million with a turnover of \u20ac348.5 million.
