The price rally of softwood lumber is receding, experts of the Estonian wood industry believe. However, opinions differ as to how quickly the lower price reaches the markets.<\/em><\/p>\n

According to Martin Arula, CEO of the Estonian wood industry company Toftan, in addition to the USA, prices are also falling in Europe and Asia. This can also be seen only in the figures for this quarter of their company.<\/p>\n

\"We are not expecting the current price increases to continue in the third quarter. We have one hundred customers around the world, which have indicated that if market demand changes a little, they will not be able to keep up with these prices. But from the preliminary information that is available we can't say how big or sudden the price fall will arise, \"explained Arula. \"I can say that the time for price increases is over anyway,\" he added.<\/p>\n

Arula described that although the influence of the USA is not in the level of goods in the timber industry in Europe, the markets still influence each other. \"Rather, the US market has always been an influencer as a stock market indicator,\" Arula explained.<\/p>\n

Softwood lumber has been in high demand in the US and Europe throughout 2021. The limited supply resulted in temporary price surges to record high levels during the spring, followed by substantial declines in early summer.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
