Moelven\u00a0will modernise and develop capacity at Moelven Edanes\u00e5gen AB and Moelven Val\u00e5sen AB in Sweden. Overall, the group will invest more than SEK 600 million ($70 million) in the two sawmills in the years to come.<\/em><\/p>\n

Moelven Edanes\u00e5gen will undergo a complete renovation of the entire production process from timber sorting, timber intake, new saw line and new dryer with increased capacity. This will be Moelven\u2019s largest individual investment of all time, with a framework of SEK 450 million ($52.3 million). The project will be completed in the first half of 2024. When finished, Moelven Edanes\u00e5gen will have significantly increased production capacity.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Moelven we have always viewed the Swedish border as a county border, albeit not during this pandemic. At Edane, which is just across the border, we shall now streamline and modernise production so that the sawmill can continue to supply the Norwegian and Swedish markets with climate-smart wood products,\u201d says CEO Morten Kristiansen of Moelven Industrier ASA..<\/p>\n

Moelven Val\u00e5sen\u00a0 in Karlskoga is increasing its capacity, and is currently building a new energy centre that will be put into operation towards the end of the year, representing an investment of SEK 60 million ($7 million). Now Moelven is investing an addition SEK 185 million ($21.5 million) to further develop the sawmill. This entails new investments in saw intake, raw sorting and sorting with camera technology, as well as a new saw line for small timber. When completed in 2024, efficiency and capacity at the sawmill will be significantly greater.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoelven Val\u00e5sen is our largest sawmill measured in terms of production capacity and turnover. It was here we initiated the pilot project with increased digitalisation of the production process, also known as \u201cThe digital sawmill\u201d.
