After nearly 20 years of almost continuous growth, the value of energy wood imported to the EU and the UK has dropped by 1%.\u00a0In 2020, all energy wood imported to the region is estimated at $ 3.18 billion.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the same time, wood pellets from North America, Russia and the CIS countries occupy the key shares in imports.\u00a0Imports from the United States in 2020 continued to grow by 3% to $ 1.4 billion.In addition, supplies from Canada increased by 25% to $ 374 billion.<\/p>\n

Imports from Russia amounted to $ 501 million, i.e. unchanged from 2019. Imports from Belarus decreased by 3% to $ 190 million.<\/p>\n

Imports from Ukraine, which include charcoal, pellets and other types of fuelwood, fell 7% to $ 185 million.<\/p>\n

As for the import of logs, in 2020, the 27 EU countries and the UK imported 8% less raw materials.\u00a0Imports amounted to $ 680 million.\u00a0Shipments decreased from almost all countries, including Russia (-5% to $ 290 million), Norway (-15% to $ 223 million), Switzerland (-19% to $ 43 million) and the United States (-15% to $ 35 million) ).<\/p>\n

However, after a fall in 2018 and 2019 due to the imposition of tight export controls in 2020, log imports from Belarus jumped sharply to $ 21 million.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
