The British BSW Timber Group, the leading wood processing company in the United Kingdom, planned to build a large sawmill in Gomilsko, Slovenia. Now the project has been postponed.<\/em><\/p>\n

The British BSW Group announced in 2018 that it wanted to build a large sawmill in Slovenia. Production was supposed to start in May 2020. The sawmill was to be built in the Gomilsko municipality near the city of Celje. However, protests by residents and difficulties and delays in building the necessary road links have thwarted the plan.<\/p>\n

\u20ac 40 million investment<\/strong><\/p>\n

The investment for the sawmill with a sawing capacity of 300,000 cubic meters of softwood per year is \u20ac 40 million. A company spokesman has now said that several other locations in Slovenia are being examined. More details can only be given after the necessary contracts have been signed.<\/p>\n

The responsible municipality now has other plans for the site originally intended for the sawmill, as the Slovenian media report. All contracts with BSW Timber have been canceled by a corresponding agreement.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
