Roundwood trade in Finland was very active in December, as recorded trade ended up to 4.2 million cubic metres. This was 14 percent more than the earlier three-year average.<\/em><\/p>\n

The average price for Finnish pine logs was EUR 57.7 per cubic metre, and the price for spruce logs was EUR 61.7 per cubic metre in standing sales in December. The real price level of logs increased two percent from the previous month and was six percent higher than the average in whole year 2019.<\/p>\n

The stumpage price for Finnish pine pulpwood was EUR 18.2, the price for spruce pulpwood EUR 20.5 and the price for birch pulpwood EUR 17.3 per cubic metre. The average price level of pulpwood increased two percent from the previous month and ended up seven percent higher than the average price of year 2019.<\/p>\n

In December, the roadside price for pine pulpwood was EUR 32.1, for spruce pulpwood EUR 32.6 and for birch pulpwood EUR 32.2 per cubic metre. Prices remained on the same level as in the previous month.<\/p>\n

Altogether 36.9 million cubic metres of industrial roundwood from non-industrial, private forests was recorded in monthly statistics in 2020. The total trade increased two percent compared to the year 2019 but was 15 percent smaller than the earlier three-year average. The volume of pulpwood (19.1 million cubic metres) decreased seven percent from the previous year and the volume of logs (16.4 million cubic metres) increased 14 percent.
