BSW has acquired the Building and Supply Solutions division of SCA Wood UK, which includes the manufacture and distribution of timber and associated products to the home improvement and builders merchant sectors.<\/em><\/p>\n

Tony Hackney, CEO of BSW, said the move heralds the beginning of BSW\u2019s growth strategy under the ownership of private equity investor Endless LLP. The Group\u2019s combined turnover in now in excess of \u00a3500m.<\/p>\n

SCA Wood Building and Supply Solutions division is one the largest processors and distributors of timber products in the UK with annual sales in excess of \u00a3145m. The business operates from its headquarters and distribution centre in Stoke-on-Trent, and it has further processing and distribution capability at its three other sites in Melton, Welshpool and Cumbernauld.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are very pleased to have agreed a common approach with SCA to acquire the UK operations, which will significantly strengthen our position with our expanding customer base,\u201d said Mr Hackney.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe opportunity to add value to our established products and widen the products we offer and distribute is extremely exciting.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis major milestone in the timber industry provides our customers with a strengthened and broader range and will extend our excellent service provision.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough this acquisition, we will deliver a combined package of timber solutions adding to the security of supply for the market.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jerry Larsson, president of SCA, said he believed the business would further develop under the ownership of BSW.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will continue to supply raw materials into the UK market via BSW Timber, in addition to our existing Industrial Solutions import and distribution operation.\u201d<\/p>\n

The BSW Board it was looking forward to developing its plans along with the SCA Wood UK team for expansion of the operations and services provided.<\/p>\n

BSW Timber is the largest sawmilling business in the UK, with turnover of approximately \u00a3370m and capacity to produce over 1.2 million cubic metres of sawn timber per year.
