The US market, including the Central Florida region, has been witnessing rising demand for lumber in recent years, driving an upsurge in such imports.<\/em><\/p>\n

Plans are underway for Binderholz a family-owned, leading European timber company with operations in Austria, Germany and Finland, which utilizes cutting edge technology and production methods, to increase its imports to meet that demand.<\/p>\n

To that end Binderholz has teamed with GT USA, the US arm of Gulftainer, a privately owned independent port operator headquartered in the UAE. The first consignment from the European market leader in solid wood products and innovative construction solutions delivered to the Canaveral Cargo Terminal (CCT) at Port Canaveral in Florida, USA.<\/p>\n

As part of its services to Binderholz, GT USA is also assisting with storage and inventory of the lumber at the terminal, along with loading it to flatbed trucks for delivery inland. Binderholz had already been using the GT USA Wilmington DE, terminal with great success over the last year.<\/p>\n

Recently, Binderholz acquired fellow Austrian Klausner's Lumber One sawmill in US in an auction for $61 million. Klausner made waves when it filed for bankruptcy back in March, prompting a lawsuit from employees.<\/p>\n

Binderholz says the purchase was strategic, at it sees extreme growth in the U.S. for Southern Yellow Pine, the primary product made at the mill.<\/p>\n

Reinhard Binder, CEO of Binderholz, said \"We see the American solid wood market as a strategic target and growth market for the Binderholz Group. The USA is by far the largest consumer of wood in the world - with a growing demand. The USA will become one of the most important sales markets for Binderholz in 2020 with over 450,000 m3 of planed products and sales of around Euro 170 million. The purchase of our own production facility in what is by far the largest world market for solid wood was therefore the next logical step.\"<\/p>\n

The mill in Live Oak has a sawing capacity of over 35 million cubic feet of round timber and a further processing capacity and nearly 20 million cubic feet of sawn timber and planed products.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
