In the Czech Republic, spruce log prices fell by 10 to 17% in the second quarter compared to the previous year.\u00a0 Spruce logs III, AB, price is less than \u20ac 50 \/ m3 and the price of spruce III, D, is less than \u20ac 30 \/ m3.<\/em><\/p>\n

According to the Czech Statistics Office (CZSO), the log price for the main tree species, spruce, was \u20ac 49.9 \/ m3 in the 2nd quarter. This is a decrease of 15% compared to the same period in 2019 (\u20ac 58.6 \/ m3). In the first quarter of 2019, the price was \u20ac 61.8 \/ m3.<\/p>\n

15% down on the previous year<\/strong><\/p>\n

The price for spruce III of quality C fell by 17% from \u20ac 50.7 \/ m3 in the 2nd quarter of 2019 to \u20ac 42.3 \/ m3 this year. According to CZSO, pulpwood spruce III, D price recorded the lowest relative price decline with -10% compared to the same period of the previous year, down to 29.9 \u20ac \/ m3. In the 1st quarter of 2019, the pulpwood price was \u20ac 35.7 \/ m3 (-16%).<\/p>\n

Almost only damaged wood<\/strong><\/p>\n

The percentage price drops for the three spruce ranges are only single-digit compared to the first quarter. For example, spruce, A \/ B, decreased by 5%, spruce, C, by 7% and spruce, D, by 3%. In contrast, pine logs fell by 18% to \u20ac 41.80 per cubic meter compared to the previous quarter.<\/p>\n

In 2019, 32.6 million m3 of wood were harvested in the Czech Republic, of which 31 million m3 was damaged wood. 90% of the timber harvest was spruce and 4% pine.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
