{"id":79577,"date":"2020-08-11T08:07:22","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T08:07:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/holmen-becomes-important-player-clt-industry\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:53:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:53:47","slug":"holmen-becomes-important-player-clt-industry","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/holmen-becomes-important-player-clt-industry\/","title":{"rendered":"Holmen becomes an important player in the CLT industry"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>On Thursday, July 16, Holmen announced the news that the Group has signed an agreement to acquire the family-owned wood products company Martinsons.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The purchase price amounts to SEK 1.0 billion (EUR 97 million) for 100 percent of the shares and the acquisition also means that Holmen will almost double its sales of wood products to just over SEK 3 billion (EUR 292 million) per year.<\/p>\n<p>Martinsons has its headquarters in Bygdsiljum between Ume\u00e5 and Skellefte\u00e5 and is today one of Sweden's leading players in sawnwood products as well as glulam and cross laminated timber (CLT).\u00a0The acquisition of Martinsons means that Holmen will become one of Sweden's and Europe's largest players in CLT, a niche that is currently growing strongly.<\/p>\n<p>It was in the spring that the owner family revealed that they intended to sell Martinsons.\u00a0In recent years, the company has received several prestigious delivery assignments, where the latest and perhaps most spectacular is Skellefte\u00e5's new culture house - Sara Kulturhus - which is currently being built and when completed with its 20 floors and 80 meters will be one of the world's tallest wooden buildings to date.\u00a0Another well-known project where Martinsons is involved in delivering building elements is the forest machine manufacturer Komatsu Forest's new factory in Ume\u00e5.<\/p>\n<p>The acquisition of Martinsons presupposes that Holmen receives approval from the relevant competition authority, something that is expected to be completed in the autumn.<\/p>\n<p>Martinson's sales in 2019 amounted to SEK 1.8 billion (EUR 175 million), of which SEK 1.1 billion came from sales of sawn and processed wood products, SEK 0.3 billion (EUR 29.2 million) from major wood construction projects and the remaining part from sales of by-products and timber trade.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Thursday, July 16, Holmen announced the news that the Group has signed an agreement to acquire the family-owned wood products company Martinsons.
