{"id":79364,"date":"2020-06-17T06:50:44","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T06:50:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/swedish-sawmills-gain-market-shares-china-us-pandemic\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:53:30","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:53:30","slug":"swedish-sawmills-gain-market-shares-china-us-pandemic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/swedish-sawmills-gain-market-shares-china-us-pandemic\/","title":{"rendered":"Swedish sawmills gain market shares in China and US during pandemic"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-content\">\n<div class=\"article-details__header-primary\">\n<div class=\"article-details__preamble\">\n<div class=\"publication-preamble text-editor-content\">\n<p><em>Many Swedish sawmills are now running at full speed again, partly because exports of softwood lumber to the UK have recovered.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-require=\"modules\/scroll-tracking\" data-action=\"visar[l\u00e4st_artikel]\" data-require-id=\"71530715\">\n<div class=\"article-details__section\">\n<div class=\"publication-text text-editor-content\">\n<blockquote><p><em>\"The construction industry in Sweden and UK has closed down a bit, but this is compensated by people wanting to renovate and build,\"<\/em>\u00a0says J\u00f6rgen Lindquist, business area manager at S\u00f6dra Woods.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>At the beginning of the coronavirus crisis, S\u00f6dra introduced short-term permits at the sawmills in Orrefors, M\u00f6nster\u00e5s and Hamina in Finland.\u00a0But during the month of May, the two first-mentioned sawmills returned to normal production, and on June 1, the sawmill in Finland did as well.<\/p>\n<p>An important reason is that sales at the British building department stores are going very well, but also that S\u00f6dra has gained new export market shares.<\/p>\n<p>''We have increased our deliveries to the US market, the US in particular, and also some to Asia,'' says J\u00f6rgen Lindquist.<\/p>\n<p>According to Eurostat data, Swedish wood products to China have increased by 59% in the first quarter as compared to the same period in 2019. Also, deliveries to the United States almost tripled during the period.
