{"id":79330,"date":"2020-06-08T10:18:28","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T10:18:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/uk-applies-tariffs-imported-wood-wood-products-2021\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:53:28","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:53:28","slug":"uk-applies-tariffs-imported-wood-wood-products-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/uk-applies-tariffs-imported-wood-wood-products-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"UK applies tariffs for imported wood and wood products from 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>From 1 January 2021, the UK will apply a UK-specific tariff to imported goods.\u202fThe UK Global Tariff (UKGT) will replace the EU\u2019s Common External Tariff, which applies until 31 December 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The duty rates will become applicable to customs entries made on or from 1 January 2021 when the UK formally exits the EU. The changes for the new UK Global Tariff within Chapter 44 for Wood and Wood Products are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>No increases in duty rates and no changes to products currently subject to 0% duty<\/li>\n<li>Duty rates of 10% remain unchanged<\/li>\n<li>Duty rates of 7% will be simplified down to 6%<\/li>\n<li>Duty rates below 6% have been reduced in most cases to 0%<\/li>\n<li>GSP reductions where applicable should still apply but details are yet to be published.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A response from the Timber Trade Federation states \u201cWhat is not yet clear is whether imports from EU countries will be subject to these duty rates, or if there will be a formal UK\/EU trade agreement retaining the current duty-free status or amending these rates in some way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe TTF welcomes the greater clarity provided by the UK Government in this document on the UK Global Tariff.
