{"id":79239,"date":"2020-05-25T05:09:21","date_gmt":"2020-05-25T05:09:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/timber-supply-chain-uk-ready-business\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:53:20","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:53:20","slug":"timber-supply-chain-uk-ready-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/timber-supply-chain-uk-ready-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Timber supply chain in UK ready for business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The timber supply chain in UK is gearing up for business\u00a0 with almost all businesses to reopen in May.<\/em><span id=\"more-23467\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>According to latest Confederation of Timber Industries survey, the third of businesses which didn't close are set to be rejoined by the rest of the respondents, with most (99%) having either reopened or planning to this month.<\/p>\n<p>Other interesting insights from the survey include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>While only 12% of the industry is currently operating at maximum capacity, there is confidence that businesses can quickly ramp up productivity. Other respondents were either not open (18%), or are operating at minimal (33%), or medium (35%) capacity<\/li>\n<li>If quarantine measures were lifted, and in light of recent Government advice on returning to work, 54% of businesses said they could return to full capacity immediately, and a further 34% in less than a month<\/li>\n<li>\u2018Government legislation\u2019 closely followed by \u2018lack of demand in the supply chain\u2019 were seen as the two biggest potential obstacles to reopening, however this may now have shifted given the release of Government advice.<\/li>\n<li>Access to PPE was viewed as a risk particularly by members involved in manufacturing, with marked increases when filtering the results to Structural Timber Association and British Woodworking Federation members.<\/li>\n<li>Manufacturing was the most affected sector in the timber supply chain, with these respondents far more likely to have closed for a period than sawmillers, merchants or other traders.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CTI Chair, Roy Wakeman OBE, said: \u201cThe results from this survey demonstrate the resilience of timber, and that as construction comes back on line, that businesses can have confidence in the merchants, manufacturers and traders they rely on to stand by them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the past six weeks the UK has faced some unprecedented challenges.
