The timber trade has been quieter in recent years than in recent years.<\/em><\/p>\n

In January-April, the member companies of the Finnish Forest Industries Association have purchased a total of 8.6 million cubic meters of wood from private forests, which is almost 3 million cubic meters less than in the corresponding period a year ago. Compared to the average of the last five years, the drop is 16 percent, Mets\u00e4teollisuus says.<\/p>\n

Although trade has been fairly steady at the beginning of the year, especially in January-February, the difference in weekly purchases was large.\u00a0In March-April, trade has been using largely at the same pace as in recent years.<\/p>\n

According to the organization, there have been no major changes in carrier prices in April.\u00a0Prices for pulpwood and birch logs were at the same level as a year ago.\u00a0In contrast, the prices of softwood logs have fallen by 3-5 percent.\u00a0The average price of pine logs in April was 55 euros per cubic meter, spruce logs 58 euros and birch logs 43 euros.\u00a0The average price of pulpwood was 17\u201320 euros per cubic meter.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
