A cautious reopening of the UK economy again allows S\u00f6dra to return to full production at one of its sawmills.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In early April, the S\u00f6dra Group announced that it was introducing short-term permits at its sawmills in Orrefors and M\u00f6nster\u00e5s in Sm\u00e5land and the sawmill in Hamina in Finland in the light of reduced demand due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n

Now S\u00f6dra has decided to return to full production at the Orrefors sawmill soon.<\/p>\n

''We have found a number of new business opportunities that secure production and therefore we are returning to a normal production rate from week 20,''<\/em>\u00a0says J\u00f6rgen Lindquist, business area manager for S\u00f6dra Wood.<\/p>\n

It was reduced demand in the UK that caused S\u00f6dra to cut production and make short-term permits.\u00a0The company now sees that the UK is gently opening again but is waiting before returning to normal operation at all its sawmills.<\/p>\n

''Thanks to the short-term permitting, we have a readiness to follow the market and be able to quickly increase production again,''<\/em>\u00a0says J\u00f6rgen Lindquist.<\/p>\n

At the end of April, Bergs Timber\u00a0announced that the company would soon return to full production at its Swedish sawmills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
