The price of pulpwood decreased by 1.2 percent and the sawlog price by 0.5 percent, in comparison with the fourth quarter of 2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pulpwood prices have been declining since the third quarter of 2019. The sharpest decrease was in the fourth quarter of 2019 by 4.7 percent. This decline continued in the first quarter of 2020 but was lower, 1.2 percent. The largest decline in pulpwood price was in the Central region by 3.0 percent. Prices decreased by 1.5 percent in the Northern region and by 1.0 percent in the Southern region.<\/p>\n<p>Sawlog prices in Sweden decreased marginally by 0.5 percent during the first quarter of 2020 in comparison with the previous quarter. That is a continuation of the trend of declining or unchanged sawlog prices that lasted throughout all quarters of 2019. However, the Southern region of the country saw an increase in the sawlog price by 1.9 percent during the first quarter of 2020. At the same time, prices decreased in both the Central and North regions by 2.9 and 1.9 percent.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Greater decline in comparison with first quarter 2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The decline in prices is larger if focus is shifted to comparing with the same quarter last year. Both pulpwood and sawlog prices have decreased by 8.8 percent during the year.<\/p>\n<p>The pulpwood price in the Central region of Sweden had the sharpest decrease, 12.7 percent. The Southern region had a 9.0 percent decrease and the Northern region had almost unchanged or small decrease in price by 0.6 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Sawlog prices declined by 9.3 percent both in the Southern and Central region, while the price decreased by 5.0 percent in the Northern region.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"section-title\"><\/h2>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trend of decreasing delivery prices continued during the first quarter of 2020 in Sweden.
