{"id":79002,"date":"2020-04-06T06:46:46","date_gmt":"2020-04-06T06:46:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/weyerhaeuser-reduces-lumber-production-20\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:52:59","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:52:59","slug":"weyerhaeuser-reduces-lumber-production-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/weyerhaeuser-reduces-lumber-production-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Weyerhaeuser reduces lumber production by 20%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Weyerhaeuser is dynamically adjusting operating capacity at certain of its manufacturing facilities.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>For the month of April, the company expects to reduce operating capacity by approximately 20 percent for lumber, 15 percent for oriented strand board, and 15 to 25 percent for engineered wood products through a combination of temporary mill curtailments and reduced shift postures.<\/p>\n<p>The company remains strongly committed to maintaining the safety of its employees and effectively serving its customers and will continue to adjust production volumes to align with customer demand.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has designated the forest products industry as an \"essential critical infrastructure workforce.\" This designation recognizes the importance of timber and wood products operations in supporting critical infrastructure and construction projects and the manufacture of important personal hygiene items.<\/p>\n<p>Weyerhaeuser is experiencing, and actively working to mitigate, minor supply chain disruptions related to transportation and delivery of export logs to certain locations in Asia.<\/p>\n<p>The company is taking prudent and precautionary steps to further strengthen its balance sheet and maintain financial flexibility and liquidity by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Limiting or deferring non-essential operating expenses;<\/li>\n<li>Reducing 2020 capital expenditures by approximately $70-90 million; and<\/li>\n<li>Increasing cash on hand by $550 million through a draw on its revolving credit facility, which expires in January 2025 and has $950 million of capacity remaining.<\/li>\n<\/ul>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Weyerhaeuser is dynamically adjusting operating capacity at certain of its manufacturing facilities.
