Poland's largest wood pellet producer will halt production until mid-April as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.<\/p>\n

Stelmet will gradually lower production across its plants and stop output completely from 1 April to mid-April.<\/p>\n

Stelmet cited the restrictions caused by the coronavirus outbreak, which have affected the distribution logistics and safety of its workers, as the reason behind the production pause.<\/p>\n

The firm produces wood pellets in two plants in Poland \u2014 at Zielona Gora and Grudziadz \u2014 with a total capacity of 150,000t\/yr. Before the coronavirus outbreak, the plants were running close to full capacity.<\/p>\n

Stelmet mainly sells to households and small users for heating, but has some industrial clients too. It sold around 45pc of its wood pellet production in Poland in the fourth quarter 2019 \u2014 the remainder was exported to Germany, Denmark, Belgium and Italy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
