Mild weather during the autumn and winter period has impacted harvesting operations in some parts of S\u00f6dra\u2019s forestry operations area.<\/em><\/p>\n

Harvesting operations will now be diverted to land with sufficient soil compaction to prevent driving damage. Wood supplies to the mills are still on track.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe weather in recent months has affected hauling conditions and the harvesting rate in some places. However, due to effective planning, high mill stocks and balanced roadside stocks, wood deliveries to the mills are on track and remain stable,\u201d said Sofia Petersson, Wood Supply Manager S\u00f6dra Skog.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur logistics planning has faced major challenges during the autumn and winter period. At the same time as prioritising spruce bark beetle areas, we also have to take soil compaction\u00a0 into account to prevent driving damage. Our contractors are currently doing a great job in the forest and with our soil protection guarantee,\u201d said Sofia Petersson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWherever possible, we are choosing tracts that are close to major road networks to minimise driving on forest roads.
