{"id":78824,"date":"2020-02-27T10:35:07","date_gmt":"2020-02-27T10:35:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/france-require-50-timber-new-public-buildings\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:52:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:52:46","slug":"france-require-50-timber-new-public-buildings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/france-require-50-timber-new-public-buildings\/","title":{"rendered":"France to require 50% timber in all new public buildings"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"standfirst\">\n<p><em>As part of the French governments push for sustainable urban development all new public buildings financed by the state must contain at least 50% wood.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The local government in Paris had already pledged a greater use of wood in new structures for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, indeed all Olympic buildings up to eight storeys high must be of all-timber construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no reason that what is possible for the Olympics should not also be possible for ordinary buildings.\u201d said Julien Denormandie, minister for cities and housing. \u201cI am imposing on all the public entities that depend on me and which manage development to construct buildings with material that is at least 50 per cent wood or from bio-sourced material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bordeaux will soon be home to France\u2019s tallest all-timber construction with the 16-storey, 57m tall building named Hyperion and designed by Jean Paul Viguier. It has a concrete core housing the lifts and stairs, but surrounded by a wooden post-and-beam structure.
