Plywood sales in the Russian market fell from 1.7% to 12.9% per year from 2014 to 2018. Russian plywood sales in 2018 were 1.38 million cubic meters, a decrease of 24.5% compared to 2014. <\/em><\/p>\n

The main reasons for the decline in plywood sales were the Russian economic crisis, the depreciation of the ruble exchange rate and high inflationary pressures. Reduced domestic demand for plywood affordability has forced consumers to abandon buying or looking for cheaper similar products.<\/p>\n

Russian products dominate the Russian market. And Russia's domestic products are mainly produced from hardwood plywood, which accounts for 80% of the total output. The production of hardwood plywood is mainly made of birch. At the same time, most new plywood production capacity and new investment projects in recent years are oriented to birch.<\/p>\n

The average price of plywood on the Russian market in 2018 was 55,000 rubles per cubic meter (871.75 US$). In 2015, the price increase of Russian plywood reached the highest value, an increase of 22.0% compared with the previous year, which was related to the sharp depreciation of the Russian currency against the US dollar, which led to an increase in the price of imported plywood and an increase in the price of domestic products. Meanwhile, the average sales price of hardwood plywood in 2018 was 56,900 rubles per cubic meter (901.86 US$), while the average sales price of softwood plywood was 44,600 rubles per cubic meter (706.81 US$). Other types of plywood were priced on average at 57,100 rubles per cubic meter (905.04 US$).<\/p>\n

Russian plywood sales will continue to decline slightly by 0.4% in 2019. It is estimated that between 2020 and 2023, in the context of economic stability, Russian plywood sales will gradually increase at a rate of 1.5-1.7% per year, and by 2023, sales will reach 1.47 million cubic meters.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
