As one of the major trade surplus areas in Vietnam, timber, wood products and forest products have gradually developed into one of Vietnam's basic export industries. As of now, Vietnam has become the world's sixth largest exporter of wood and wood products in Asia, Asia and Southeast Asia.<\/em><\/p>\n

As the largest exporter of timber and wood products in Vietnam, the United States accounts for 38% of Vietnam's total exports; followed by China, which accounts for 15%; Japan and Europe, followed by 28%. In the world's large markets such as the United States, the European Union, and Japan, the value of indoor wood exports in Vietnam is second only to China. Exports to stable markets such as the United States, the European Union, and Australia have grown steadily. This reflects the enthusiasm and initiative of Vietnamese companies in applying high technology to production, ensuring product quality stability and strong competitiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although Vietnam's timber and wood products exports have achieved considerable results, their development still has certain limitations.<\/p>\n

First, Vietnam is more dependent on the import of wood raw materials. Relevant data show that the import value of wood raw materials and coating raw materials accounts for 50% of the cost of wood products, and the sales expenses also account for 14% of the total cost, and the cost of wood products is relatively high;<\/p>\n

Secondly, due to the gradual reduction of the forest area, the national environmental awareness has increased, and most countries including Vietnam have enacted relevant laws and regulations to restrict and prohibit the export of some timber. For example, in 2016, Laos issued 15\/PM regulations to stop exporting logs and sawn timber. In April 2015, China banned the exploitation of natural forests in the Northeast and was completely banned throughout the continent at the end of 2017. As the largest supplier of wood raw materials in Vietnam, China has brought a major blow to the Vietnamese timber and wood products production market;<\/p>\n

Thirdly, Vietnam's domestic timber and wood products are mainly produced and processed by small and medium-sized enterprises. The company's internal funds can be used for technological innovation. The production and processing methods are original, the finished product design is old, and the products lack market appeal.<\/p>\n

Finally, China, Germany, Italy and other strong competitors in the export of timber and wood products in Vietnam will enable Vietnam to increase its competitiveness in the industry before it can gradually integrate into the international economy.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
