European softwood lumber shipments to the US have reached levels unseen since before the global financial crisis.\u00a0Exports almost doubled in the first eight months of the year, with the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden leading the way.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

As the Canadian companies, which used to send most of the softwood lumber to the US, are now confronting countervailing\u00a0duties, the exports from the European Union countries have become more attractive.<\/p>\n

Exports amounted to\u00a03,481,080 m3 during the mentioned period, with the Netherlands being the top exporter (2,277,272\u00a0m3, up by 140% yoy). Germany exported 19% more softwood lumber to the US, reaching a volume of\u00a0574,897 m3, while Sweden sent 34% more shipments, to\u00a0286,955 m3.<\/p>\n
