In 2019, it is estimated that 30 million cubic meters of beetle wood will be produced in Czech forests. Accordingly, the loss amount is expected to amount to about 40 billion kroner, the equivalent of about 1.6 billion euros.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Most of the damage, CZK 36.6 billion, comes from the early harvesting of the stocks, a further CZK 3.8 billion from the decline in wood prices by about CZK 100-150, or about EUR 4-6 per cubic meter.\u00a0As in Germany and Austria, the price is often well below the direct production costs.\u00a0The situation for new crops will be better assessed this year.\u00a0The damage to plantations is estimated at CZK 250-350 million.<\/p>\n

The forest area affected by drought and beetles in 2019 is estimated to be 66,000 ha. The cost of reforestation is estimated at CZK 7.3 billion.<\/p>\n

In addition, according to Czech Forest, around 450 million m3 in spruce stands from the second age group are directly endangered by drought and bark beetle.\u00a0This means a potential future damage of more than 600 billion CZK, the equivalent of about 23.3 billion euros.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
