{"id":78312,"date":"2019-10-18T08:49:27","date_gmt":"2019-10-18T08:49:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/sweden-slow-sawnwood-demand-bark-beetle-infestation-cause-foresters-drop-timber-prices\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:51:54","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:51:54","slug":"sweden-slow-sawnwood-demand-bark-beetle-infestation-cause-foresters-drop-timber-prices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/sweden-slow-sawnwood-demand-bark-beetle-infestation-cause-foresters-drop-timber-prices\/","title":{"rendered":"Sweden: Slow sawnwood demand and bark beetle infestation cause foresters to drop timber prices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>The Swedish forest owners association Mellanskog has announced a decrease in its timber prices.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to Mellanskog, the global economy continued to show signs of slowing down, resulting in weakened demand for sawnwood and pulp-based products.<\/p>\n<p>And at the same time, the supply of forest raw material is high in Sweden and Europe, where extensive spruce bark beetle problem has led to a high logging activity with large spruce.<span id=\"more-21328\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the current economic climate, Mellanskog makes a market adjustment of timber prices.\u00a0The adjustment of prices should be seen in the light of high supply and external factors that create uncertainty in the market.\u00a02019 has so far been a strong year for Mellanskog.\u00a0Prior to 2020, the focus is on continued high activity in the forest and a power gathering to help the members affected by forest damage, says CEO Fredrik Munter.<\/p>\n<p>Mellanskog\u00a0association announced adjustment of the timber prices due to the market conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pulpwood: \u2013 SEK 20 \/ m3fub (solid volume under bark) in all of Mellanskog\u2019s geography, all tree species.<\/li>\n<li>Pine wood: -SEK 10-40 \/ m3to depending on geography (top-end-cylinder volume without bark)<\/li>\n<li>Fir wood: -SEK 20-40 \/ m3to depending on geography (top-end-cylinder volume without bark)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>About\u00a0Mellanskog:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The association is owned by 26 thousand\u00a0forest owners \u2013 members of the organization. It also helps other forest owners.
