In the first half of 2019, the total import of logs and lumber totaled 485.394 million cubic meters, amounting to 9.43 billion US dollars in January-June.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Lumber imports increased slightly. China imported 18.83 million cubic meters of lumber in the first half of the year, valued at 4.43 billion US dollars, up 4% year-on-year, but the value dropped by 8%.<\/p>\n

Among the total imports of lumber, softwood lumber imports increased by 17% to 14.12 million cubic meters, accounting for 75% of total imports. However, hardwood lumber imports fell by 22% to 4.71 million cubic meters.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among all sawn hardwood imports, tropical sawn timber imports were 2.74 million cubic meters, with a total value of $1 billion. However, compared with the same period last year, the total amount decreased by 22%, and the total value decreased by 28%.<\/p>\n

China's tropical lumber imported from Thailand was 1.784 million cubic meters, valued at 528 million US dollars, imports fell 24%, and value fell 31%. In the first half of 2019, the amount of tropical lumber imported from the Republic of Congo increased by 87% and its value increased by 71%. At the same time, China's imports of tropical lumber from Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia fell by 69%, 51% and 30% respectively.<\/p>\n

In September, the price of domestic softwood logs rose by 0.2 percentage points. Among them, the price of Pinus sylvestris var. chinensis rose by 0.4% from the previous month; the price of other coniferous logs was unchanged from the previous month.<\/p>\n

Domestic hardwood logs fell by 0.5 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, the prices of ash logs and eucalyptus logs fell by 1.2%, 1.1% and 1.0%, respectively; other hardwood logs were flat.<\/p>\n

The price of imported softwood logs fell by 2.2 percentage points from the previous month. Among them, the prices of white pine logs and pine logs fell by 6.4% and 5.6% respectively; other hardwood logs were flat.<\/p>\n

The price of imported softwood lumber fell by 1.8 percentage points. Among them, the price of sawmills, white pine and pine lumber fell by 6.4%, 2.2% and 1.7% respectively; the price of radiata pine sawn timber rose by 0.3%; the price of Korean pine sawn timber was flat.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
