The average price of Russian wood pellets sent to the European Union countries in January-July has increased by almost 10% as compared to the previous year, following several quarters of sharp rise. On average, Russian wood pellets sent to the European Union increased by 10% as compared to the same period of 2018, while the overall exports rose by 32% in quantity and 45% in value.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The most expensive Russian wood pellets were sent to the United Kingdom (an average of\u00a0\u20ac163\/ton), a 10% increase as compared to January-July 2018.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Russian pellets sent to Denmark in 2018 had an average price of\u00a0\u20ac134\/tons, a +9% increase over January-July 2018, while pellets exported to Sweden were priced at\u00a0\u20ac139 (also a 19% growth yoy).<\/p>\n

According to the latest Eurostat data, in January-July 2019 the pace of wood pellets exported from Russia to the European Union has increased by 32% in quantity (total: 778.789 tons) and 45% in value (total:\u00a0\u20ac 116 million).<\/p>\n

During the mentioned period,\u00a0Denmark received the highest quantity of wood pellets from Russia.\u00a0The country received 232 thousand tons of wood pellets, worth at\u00a0\u20ac\u00a034 million, which represents a 28% increase in terms of volume, and a 41% increase in terms of value.<\/p>\n

UK's imports from Russia increased by 21%, to 110 thousand tons, rising from the 91 thousand tons imported during January-July 2018.<\/p>\n

At present, there are more than 250 pellet producers in Russia, with 30 of them producing 80% of the total pellet volume.\u00a0At the same time, production volumes are steadily growing: in 2017, Russian companies delivered 1.4 million tons, in 2018 - 1.7 million tons, expectations for 2019 - 2.3 million tons. Most of the products are exported: 90% - to Europe and 5% to Asia.\u00a0Another 5% is sold in the domestic market.<\/p>\n
