Exports of wood pellets from Russia are growing at the highest rate in recent years. In H1\/2019, exports grew by 27% (YoY) to 854,000. The biggest contribution to the growth was provided by the plants of ULK Group (+23,000 tons), Sawmill 25 (+12,000 tons),Novoyeniseskiy Wood Chemical Complex (+15,300 tons), Lesosibirsky LDK No 1, (+23,300 tons), Pik-Bio (+6,700 tons) and others. The number of wood pellet suppliers over the year also increased- from 160 to 215.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Deliveries to Belgium and the Netherlands increased fourfold (to 53,600 tons and 59,200 tons respectively). Denmark is still the largest consumer of Russian wood pellets. In 6 months of 2019, supplies to its market increased by 19% to 362,000 tons, however, Denmark's share in the total volume of wood pellet exports from Russia decreased by 3 pp to 42%. Deliveries to Italy decreased by 29% to 47,000.<\/p>\n

The largest buyer of Russian wood pellets remains CM Biomass with a share of 33% of total exports\u00a0\"\"<\/a>from Russia. The company's procurement volume is growing consistently with the growth of exports sales from Russia. Unlike in H1\/2018, in H1\/2019, the company began delivering products to the Netherlands, Belgium, S. Korea, and Italy.<\/p>\n

It is remarkable that since April 2019, Drax Power Station (a CHP plant, the largest consumer of wood pellets in Europe) has begun to appear amond direct buyers of Russian wood pellets after several years of break due to geopolitical aggravation and political sanctions between the countries. In 6 months of 2019, ULK Group delivered 7,300 tons of wood pellets to Drax Power Station.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
