Due to increasing wood stocks in the German forests, the production of wood pellets has been steadily increasing for years. At 1.299 million tonnes, the first half of 2019 is the best half in history for the production of pellets than ever before in six months.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Compared to the same period of the previous year, this growth once again increased by 150,000 t (just under 13%).\u00a0<\/span>According to Deutsches Energieholz- und Pellet-Verband eV (DEPV), this development is based on new plants and plant expansions as well as on a good raw material situation for sawed by-products. The increasing demand from neighboring countries also influences the production volume in Germany.<\/p>\n

The pellets produced in Germany correspond to 96.9% of the highest quality class ENplus A1. Softwood is the main raw material (97.1%) and sawmill (94.7%) is the preferred starting material.<\/p>\n

The German pellet industry expects further momentum from the currently much-discussed CO2 pricing of fossil energy sources. With a current slight increase of approx. 10% in installations of pellet heaters it is not enough to achieve the climate protection goals. Moreover, it does not exhaust the potential of German production. Over 15% of the pellets produced in Germany are exported abroad due to a lack of sales, according to DEPV.<\/p>\n

At 22.2%, the share of sack pellets is just above the previous year's level. For the second half of the year, DEPV still expects high production output, so that the total production volume of 2.5 million t of pellets forecast for 2019 is likely to be reached.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
