Finnish softwood lumber exports to the world increased by 5% in the first five months of 2019. The softwood lumber volumes reached 3,1 million m3 during the mentioned period, a rise by more than 142,000 m3 as compared to the same period of 2018.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The softwood lumber exports to the European Union grew slightly by 1%,<\/span>\u00a0reaching 1,17 million during January-May 2019, as compared to the 1,16 million exported in 2018. The United Kingdom was still the biggest European softwood lumber importer from Finland and increased the volumes imported by 4%, to 299,287 m3.<\/p>\n

Finnish softwood lumber exports to China dropped by -3% and reached a volume of 457,000 m3 during January-May 2019, as compared to the 471,000 m3 exported in the previous year.<\/p>\n

Exports to North Africa reported the highest increases (+25%), up to 820,00 m3. Egypt's imports of softwood lumber from Finland rose by +61% during the mentioned period and reached a volume of 594,000 m3.<\/p>\n
