Following a -32% drop in exports last year, European softwood lumber deliveries to China have recovered in the first five months of the year. While Nordic exports continued the negative trend recorded in 2018, the German deliveries are responsible for the overall 21% in rise the overall EU exports.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The European Union countries sent 1.1 million m3 of softwood lumber to China, during the mentioned period, as compared to the 935 thousand m3 that they've sent in the first five months of 2018.<\/p>\n

The biggest exporter was still Finland, although its shipments decreased by -3% as compared to January-May 2018. The country sent 457 thousand m3 of softwood lumber to China. Swedish exports dropped by -24%, down to only 229 thousand m3.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the German softwood lumber exports to China had a great 2019 start, and increased by 337%, up to 189 thousand m3. Austrian deliveries, though at a lower volume, hiked by 202%, up to 79 thousand m3.<\/p>\n
