IKEA Industry will close its plant in Danville, Virginia<\/span>, at the end of the year.\u00a0As evidenced by several identical US media reports, the production of bookshelves and living room cabinets, which had previously been based there, is to be relocated to locations in Europe.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

IKEA Industry justifies the decision with the more favorable cost structure, especially with regard to raw materials at the European locations.\u00a0The cessation of employment affects 300 employees.\u00a0The factory opened in 2008 and supplies IKEA stores in the US and Canada.<\/p>\n

In Europe, IKEA Industry operates production sites in Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, Portugal, Hungary and Lithuania.\u00a0There are currently 43 plants in nine countries.\u00a0In addition to the countries already mentioned, the company is still represented in Russia and China with production facilities.\u00a0In the USA, Ikea Industry operates only the plant in Danville. IKEA Industry is part of the Inter IKEA Group and focuses on the manufacture of wood-based furniture.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
