Birch plywood consumption in the world has grown at an average rate of 2-2.7%.\u00a0At the end of 2018, prices declined, which was due to the retirement of the Turkish market from the birch plywood manufacturers portfolio, the launch of the Vyatka plywood mill of Segezha Group in Kirov, as well as an increase in production at current capacities.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

In general, the volume of plywood production in 2018 in Russia increased from 3.7 million m\u00a03\u00a0to 4.1 million m\u00a03\u00a0per year.<\/p>\n

In the first quarter of 2019, all Russian plywood enterprises operated at full capacity, helped by solving the problem of a shortage of raw materials, thanks to restrictions on the export of plywood logs.<\/p>\n

As a result, the supply of manufacturers in the first quarter of this year exceeded the demand by more than 10%.<\/p>\n

However, Segezha Group's entry into new markets, the onset of the construction season, and the active development of high-rise construction in Asia and the Middle East enabled the company to raise prices for a number of birch plywood positions in 4x8 and 5x10 formats already in April of this year.<\/p>\n

European countries and Russia are still the largest plywood consumers in the world, their total share is about 75%.\u00a0Russia is consistently among the top five countries producing and exporting plywood (inferior to China, Indonesia and Malaysia).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
