Kronospan will build a new OSB plant\u00a0on the existing Kronospan particleboard plant in Novovolynsk in northwestern Ukraine, 10 km from the Polish border.\u00a0The plant will have a production capacity of 280,000 tons of OSB boards annually.<\/em><\/p>\n

As part of the OSB plant, Kronospan UA is investing in a direct heated dryer, a multi-daylight press, a 45 MW biomass boiler and a system for the discharge and purification of surface water.<\/p>\n

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is financing the construction of an OSB plant belonging to Kronospan UA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kronospan Holdings PLC, based in Cyprus.<\/p>\n

The plant will consume a significant amount of wood as raw material and the main potential indirect environmental and social impacts are associated with the wood supply. To mitigate the potential adverse impact of the wood procurement and to ensure the wood supplied is of legal and sustainable origin, the company will purchase wood from responsible sources and give preference to certified wood when available. Kronospan's Novovolynsk plant has already been subject to the external FSC audits and the FSC Chain-of-Custody and Controlled Wood certification obtained in 2014 is still valid.<\/p>\n

Currently, about 20% of the produced particleboard product is labelled FSC 100% under the C-o-C certification standards.<\/p>\n

The total project costs amount to 168 million euros, the EBRD loan amounts to 116 million euros.\u00a0Kronospan UA raises EUR 52 million from own funds.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
