Finnish P\u00f6lkky Oy has announced a major investment program, targeting its production facilities in northern Finland. The investment program is executed according to the company\u2019s new strategy. The value of the first phase in the investment program is 30 million euros. In the first phase, P\u00f6lkky will modernize the production technologies at its sawmill in Kajaani, enabling more effective usage of the high-quality raw material in the Kainuu region.<\/em><\/p>\n

P\u00f6lkky has been operating in Kajaani since 2012. The company has found the raw timber in the Kajaani region to be a good source for the company\u2019s high-quality wood products. The quality raw timber from the Kajaani region combined with a highly competent production facility enables the strong development of sawn timber processing across the P\u00f6lkky corporation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe global growth trend in timber construction is increasing the need for high quality processed wood products in all markets. Meanwhile, the value of raw timber in the forest is growing. With our new investment program we aim to significantly increase the use of raw timber, generating new jobs in all phases in our production chain in northern Finland.\u201d says Petteri Virranniemi, Chief Executive Officer of P\u00f6lkky Oy.<\/p>\n

P\u00f6lkky Oy uses 1 400 000 m3 of raw timber annually, across its four sawmills in Finland. The company\u2019s turnover is 180 million euros. P\u00f6lkky has 420 employees in wood procurement, sawing and processing. P\u00f6lkky is a family company, now in the third generation.<\/p>\n

P\u00f6lkky Oy is the largest private wood processing company in northern Finland. The sawmills and further processing facilities run by P\u00f6lkky Oy are located in Kuusamo, Taivalkoski and Kajaani. Pine represents 75% and spruce 25% of our production.
