The Pfeifer Group is currently investing a good 25 million euros in the conversion and expansion of its traditional location in Schlitz, Germany.\u00a0From mid-2019, the wood processing company from Tyrol \/ Austria will start producing Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) in the former formwork panels and trusses.\u00a0In the first expansion phase, 55 new jobs will be created; while in the final construction phase, there will be 100 jobs.<\/em><\/p>\n

Pfeifer plans to reach an annual capacity of 100,000 m\u00b3 of finished CLT in full operation in 2021 on a plant area of \u200b\u200b6 hectares. The start-up and optimization phase will start in the middle of 2019, and the completion phase I with 50,000 m\u00b3 of finished CLT \/ year in the fourth quarter of 2019.\u00a0This corresponds to a timber use of approx. 65,000 m\u00b3.\u00a0The converted and newly built storage, production and order picking halls are already in place, the installation of the machinery is well advanced.\u00a0Similarly, the entire water and sewage network and the power supply was renewed or expanded.\u00a0A first commissioning is scheduled for August 2019, according to Pfeifer's plant manager Roland Ritter.<\/p>\n

The central supplier for the CLT plant is the nearby Pfeifer sawmill Lauterbach.\u00a0The further processing of the sawn timber deepens the added value.\u00a0In Schlitz, a large part of the infrastructure already existed, which greatly reduces the investment and running costs.\u00a0The plant is also centrally located in Germany, Europe's most important market, and not far from the core and boom markets such as the UK and Scandinavia.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
