The IKEA Group will conduct an audit at the Polish mills of the Austrian company Kronospan, which is a supplier of the Swedish company. The reason seems to be the numerous complaints about the environmental pollution reported by residents where Kronospan operates its mills in Poland, namely in\u00a0Szczecinek and Mielec, the Polish media reported. Kronospan intends to join IKEA audits, which are supposed to take place in the following weeks.\u00a0<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

''Sustainability is one of our priorities\u00a0and we deal with all doubts related to this issue with great care and accuracy,'' IKEA said in a statement. ''To ensure that IKEA suppliers comply with our standards, all of them must work according to the IKEA Code of Conduct for suppliers of products - IWAY.\u00a0The document defines the minimum requirements for suppliers and service providers in terms of working conditions, environmental and social conditions, and describes what suppliers can expect from IKEA in return,'' the statements said.<\/p>\n

''If any of IKEA's business partners fail to comply with the laws of the country in which they operate or IWAY regulations, and show no willingness to improve, IKEA will terminate the cooperation,'' the statements concluded.<\/p>\n

Kronospan agreed to implement IKEA IWAY standards and carry out these audits.\u00a0The company also issued a relevant statement in this respect: ''Kronospan has always acted, operates and will act in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the country in which its plants operate, regularly undergoing controls by authorized institutions''. ''The company has a transparent, open information policy regarding the above activities.\u00a0Information on them is passed to the media and to any entity interested in their substantive side,'' Kronospan stated.<\/p>\n

- As a sub-supplier, Kronospan has not been directly covered by the IWAY auditing program.\u00a0The IKEA invitation to carry it out, issued at the beginning of 2018, is not only an expression of strengthening cooperation with the Swedish client, but also striving to develop Kronospan plants as modern entities, socially and environmentally responsible.\u00a0It is also a confirmation of the transparency of the activities of both companies,'' Kronospan concluded.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
