Trading in framing lumber limped toward the holidays, as buyers kept a low profile. Prices were flat to mixed, but losers outnumbered gainers and the Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price posted a second consecutive weekly decline.<\/em><\/p>\n

Buyers placed orders here and there, usually in small lots and specified lengths to fill inventory holes. Some traders noted a mild pickup from some buyers, as deliveries in the new year were assured. But none of it came easy, and caution was evident across all sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Random Lengths Panel Market Report<\/strong><\/p>\n

Structural panel prices slipped amid subdued trading. OSB producers grew more resistant to counters as the week progressed, and order files pushed through December.<\/p>\n

This was most apparent in the South, where traders shook off a slow start and the market gained momentum by Friday. Urgency remained absent from Southern Pine plywood trading during another week of unexceptional demand. Western Fir plywood sales remained dull for most traders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
