During January-September<\/span>\u00a02018<\/span>, Sweden has\u00a0exported<\/span>\u00a0about<\/span>\u00a07.4\u00a0million<\/span>\u00a0m3\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0softwood lumber<\/strong>.\u00a0This represents a -2% decrease over the same period of 2017. Most of the exports to the world decreased, as compared to 2017.<\/em><\/p>\n

Main export markets for the Swedish softwood lumber were\u00a0the\u00a0United Kingdom<\/strong>\u00a0and the Netherlands,\u00a0followed by Norway and Denmark<\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet,\u00a0exports to Egypt<\/strong>\u00a0dropped the most, by -28% over January-September 2017, down to a volume of\u00a0482,227 m3. Also, the exports to\u00a0China dropped sharply by -18%, down to a volume of\u00a0438,430 m3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Swedish softwood lumber exports<\/strong>\u00a0increased to countries such as\u00a0the Netherlands (+7%) and Algeria (+157%).<\/p>\n

Swedish lumber shipments to the European Union<\/strong>\u00a0countries were flat at 4.1 million m3\u00a0exported during January-September. The exports to North Africa increased by 4% over the corresponding period of 2017. North America and the Near and Middle East exports dropped by -10% and -4%, respectively.<\/p>\n

A significant drop was recorded for the Swedish lumber exports to other Asian countries, which dropped by -13%, down to 1 million m3.<\/p>\n
