Disappointment permeated US framing lumber markets, as trading lacked follow-through from the previous week\u2019s pickup in sales. One brighter spot was a modest increase in sales of Southern Pine, as some prices reached what buyers called \u201cinvestment levels.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Elsewhere, however, a quiet, if not gloomy, tone left prices stalled at best, and many continued to fall \u2014 some to levels not seen in two years. The Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell $14, to $346, its lowest level since April 2016.<\/p>\n

<\/a>Random Lengths Panel Market Report<\/h3>\n

Structural panel sales picked up, but prices continued to lose ground. Price trends covered the gamut in OSB. Small increases were posted in Western Canada early in the week, but activity quieted and prices held at midweek levels. Leaner inventories led Southern Pine plywood buyers to purchase more volume as the week progressed, and the pace of price erosion dissipated. Western Fir plywood sales were the most robust traders had seen in several weeks. Trading picked up for mills that opened to double-digit counters.<\/p>\n
