{"id":76621,"date":"2018-10-30T10:21:53","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T10:21:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/almost-50-million-m3-beetle-wood-central-europe\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:49:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:49:16","slug":"almost-50-million-m3-beetle-wood-central-europe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/almost-50-million-m3-beetle-wood-central-europe\/","title":{"rendered":"Almost 50 million m3 of beetle wood in Central Europe"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"article-content\">\n<p><em>According to estimates by different forestry organizations, in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, around 44 million cubic meters of wood infested by the bark beetle are estimated for this year.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Four million m3 of bark bettle wood is expected for the entire 2018 in Austria.\u00a0The main area of \u200b\u200bdamage lies in the northeast of the country, north of the Danube, in Oder and Lower Austria regions.<\/p>\n<p>The extra effort required to combat beetles, the over-saturation of the market, falling timber prices and the costs of reforestation make life difficult for forest owners, says DI Felix Montecuccoli, President of the Land &amp; Forst organization in Austria, summing up the difficult situation for the forest owners in the affected regions.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, 3.5 million solid bark beetle logs were recorded.\u00a0That was the highest value since records began.\u00a0For 2018, this record will be broken.\u00a0\"The fourth generation of bark beetles is already flying in certain parts of the country.\u00a0We expect at least four million cubic feet of damaged wood this year from the bark beetle, \" continued Montecuccoli.<\/p>\n<p>The forest camps in bark-beetle areas are slow to develop, and the waiting time for the removal of the wood provided can often take several weeks.\u00a0The result is devaluation of the wood by up to 50%.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Federation of German Foresters in Germany by storms, beetles and forest fires around 30 million m3 of damaged wood occurred, about half being the result of the the bark beetle infestation.<\/p>\n<p>According to a government statement by the Czech Minister of Agriculture, until recently the Czech Republic has reported up to 20 million cubic meters of beetle wood.\u00a0The value has increased now to 25 million fm.<\/p>\n<p>Small forest owners often have to harvest their entire forest area.\u00a0The economic survival of many forest enterprises is endangered by additional expenses, price erosion and consequential costs due to the beetle calamity.<\/p>\n<p>Now the bark beetles prepare for wintering under the bark or in the ground.\u00a0Only a damp winter and spring can defuse the situation.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 class=\"section-title\"><\/h2>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>According to estimates by different forestry organizations, in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic, around 44 million cubic meters of wood infested by the bark beetle are estimated for this year.\u00a0 Four million m3 of bark bettle wood is expected &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/almost-50-million-m3-beetle-wood-central-europe\/\">Continue reading <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":57980,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[4716,4715],"tags":[3278,3984,3549,3302],"class_list":["post-76621","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-latest-trends","category-market-analysis","tag-austria","tag-beetle-wood","tag-czech-republic","tag-germany","topic-forestry","topic-industry-prices","topic-sawmilling","area-europe"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
