Downward momentum eased in some framing lumber species in US. But even with quarter-end pressure to sell behind them, producers in the West continued to open to steep counters to draw in orders. Deep cuts were more spotty, but a few remained in the $30-50 range.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Random Lengths Framing Lumber Composite Price fell an additional $16 for the week. Traders noted that the downturn was the most severe they have seen in their careers, and an analysis of the plummet backed that up.<\/p>\n

Random Lengths Panel Market Report<\/strong><\/p>\n

Structural panel prices plunged amid weak demand and abundant supplies. Downward price pressure accelerated in OSB, and thin order files prompted producers to lower quotes sharply or open to steep counters. Another week of slow sales intensified downward price pressure in Southern Pine plywood. Mills struggled to compete for the few orders that circulated. Western Fir plywood producers and secondaries struggled to find trading levels, and reported one of the lightest weeks of sales in memory.<\/p>\n
