Wood pellets in Germany are still available at low prices this summer. As compared to July, the wood pellet prices remained constant in August.<\/em><\/p>\n

The average price for a tonne of wood pellets (for 6 t purchases) in Germany is\u00a0\u20ac237.49, 0.5 percent more than in the previous month. The price is 3.1 percent higher as compared to the same month of 2017.\u00a0\u00a0Accordingly, one kilogram of pellets costs 23.75 cents and one kilowatt hour (kWh) of heat from pellets 4.75 cents.\u00a0The price advantage of wood pellets against fuel oil is around 31 percent, and 20 percent as compared to natural gas.<\/p>\n

\"The pellet price remains in the national average still at its low summer level.\u00a0The first signs that this could soon be over, however, are already evident in the north and south, where prices for some purchase quantities have already increased slightly.\u00a0Now the heating operators should take action; those who have not yet filled their warehouses for the winter, advises DEPV (the Germany Wood Pellet Association) Managing Director Martin Bentele.\u00a0In winter, the association expects the usual seasonal price increase, however the amount depends on the weather conditions.\u00a0In addition, delays in delivery may occur if the winter weather complicates transportation or if many customers will fill their warehouses \"overnight\" at the same time.<\/p>\n

The price for wood pellets varies regionally in August 2018 (purchase amount 6 t): The cheapest price is currently in central Germany (234.87 EUR \/ t).\u00a0In the north and south of the republic, the price has already picked up slightly.\u00a0In South Germany it stands at 237.99 EUR \/ t and in North and East Germany at 238.54 EUR \/ t.<\/p>\n

Larger quantities (26 t) were traded in August 2018 at the following conditions: South: EUR 224.30 \/ t, Center: EUR 217.89 \/ t, North \/ East: EUR 219.85 \/ t (all incl. VAT).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
