The European countries softwood lumber\u00a0imports from Belarus have went up during January - September 2017 by 51%, to a total of\u00a01,085,749\u00a0m3.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The EU top importer was Germany, which increased its softwood lumber imports from Belarus by 33%, to a total volume of\u00a0315,041\u00a0m3, during the mentioned period. Latvia, the second importing company, also increased its imports, by 33%, to\u00a0235,970\u00a0m3, followed by Lithuania, where the softwood lumber imports from Belarus went up by\u00a042%, to\u00a0245,085 m3.<\/p>\n

Starting January 1st 2015, Belarus has banned the\u00a0exports of unprocessed wood, so the\u00a0logs deliveries to Europe have stopped ever since. The decision was made by\u00a0the Belarusian president, Aleksandr Lukashenko, as to raise the\u00a0volumes of wood\u00a0processed within the country.<\/p>\n
