{"id":76240,"date":"2018-08-16T10:48:47","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T10:48:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/russia-sawnwood-exports-drop-sharply-due-low-chinese-demand\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:48:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:48:46","slug":"russia-sawnwood-exports-drop-sharply-due-low-chinese-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/russia-sawnwood-exports-drop-sharply-due-low-chinese-demand\/","title":{"rendered":"Russia: Sawnwood exports drop sharply due to low Chinese demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>In the first quarter of 2018, the supply of sawn softwood from Russia increased by 1.8% (YoY) to 6.2 million m3, which is the minimum growth rate in the first quarter of an annual basis from 2012 (in the first quarter of 2012, there was a decrease of 5.2% YoY).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia1-14.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia1-14-300x266.jpg noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17618 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia1-14-300x266.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 175px) 100vw, 175px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia1-14-300x266.jpg 300w, https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia1-14.jpg 456w\" alt=\"\" width=\"175\" height=\"155\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The decline was influenced by the slowdown of sales to China. Deliveries to China have practically not grown in comparison with the first quarter of 2017 (+0.9% YoY, this is the worst figure since 2013). Ecological inspections of woodworking companies from the side of supervisory and controlling state departments of China were made. The tax on \"environmental protection\" was introduced on April 1, 2018, as reported by WhatWood.<\/p>\n<p>Russian spruce sawnwood from the Northwest reached a price of $280-285\/m3, pine sawnwood from the Northwest of Russia - $265\/m3; pine sawnwood from Siberia - $270-280\/m3 in the port of Shanghai. Growth for the year amounted to approximately $30-30\/m3. Spruce sawnwood from Finland was sold at a price of $285-290\/m3.<\/p>\n<p>The selling price of Russian pine sawnwood (Pinus Sylvestris\u00a0# 1-4 SF) on the domestic market of China (Taicang) was 2,100-2,200 yuan\/m3. The average profitability of sales of traders was 30-50 yuan\/m3. Since early 2018, the yuan has weakened against the US dollar by 8%.<a href=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia2-13.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia2-13-300x255.jpg noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-17619 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia2-13-300x255.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 208px) 100vw, 208px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia2-13-300x255.jpg 300w, https:\/\/timberindustrynews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/russia2-13.jpg 456w\" alt=\"\" width=\"208\" height=\"177\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to WhatWood, deliveries of sawn softwood from Russia to Japan in the first quarter of 2018 amounted to 222,000 m3 (-2.2% YoY).<\/p>\n<p>Sales in Egypt grew significantly in the first quarter of 2018 compared with the first quarter of 2017: +16% to 217,000 m3. The share of sawnwood of Lesosibirsky LDK No. 1 (the Krasnoyarsk region, Lesosibirsk) was 22% of the total sales volume of sawn softwood from Russia to Egypt in the first quarter of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In Europe, supplies from Russia decreased by 10.7% (YoY) to 702,000 m3. The largest importer of Russian sawn timber in the first quarter of 2018 was Estonia: 133,000 m3.<\/p>\n<p>The average price of Russian sawnwood producers was 11,042 rubles\/m3 (+12% to the first quarter of 2017) or about $194\/m3. When sold on the domestic market: 8,556 rubles\/m3 (+7.7% YoY, $150\/m3) and 11,645 rubles\/m3 (+13% YoY, $205\/m3) for export sales, WhatWood reported.<\/p>\n<p>In the first quarter of 2018, the third site (Aekhangelsky LDK No. 3) of Lesozavod-25 JSC reached the design capacity. Since April 1, 2018, the new sawmilling workshop has been operating in two shifts, the drying kilns have been running at full load. Since the beginning of May, the line for sorting dry sawnwood has been put into a three-shift modes. The annual production of sawnwood in the third section of the sawmill will reach 250,000 m3, and the company as a whole - 750,000 m3.
