{"id":76238,"date":"2018-08-16T10:46:45","date_gmt":"2018-08-16T10:46:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tin.happy-projects.ro\/vietnamese-wood-products-exports-expected-to-double-in-the-upcoming-years\/"},"modified":"2025-09-19T08:48:46","modified_gmt":"2025-09-19T08:48:46","slug":"vietnamese-wood-products-exports-expected-to-double-in-the-upcoming-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.timberindustrynews.com\/ro\/vietnamese-wood-products-exports-expected-to-double-in-the-upcoming-years\/","title":{"rendered":"Vietnamese wood products exports expected to double in the upcoming years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Vietnam's government is very positive regarding the wood and woodworking industry, as\u00a0earning export revenues of $18-20 billion are forecast by 2025.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the public ministries to help wood businesses\u00a0overcome difficulties and boost their performance, during the\u00a0recent \u201cSustainable Development for Wood Exports\u201d conference held in Saigon.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by VN Express, listing challenges facing the industry, the conference heard that wood logged from local plantations was of low quality because the trees were young, while material imports were getting thinner as many countries tightened export controls to limit deforestation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fck_detail\">\n<p class=\"Normal\">At the moment, the country is importing approximately 20-21% of the wood material that it needs for its domestic production. Moreover, local businesses earned low profits due to the fact that they mostly exported raw materials or implemented subcontracts for foreign partners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">Vietnam annually ships 8 million tons of wood chips, mainly to China and Japan, for pulp production, and the\u00a0demand for woodwork products in the domestic and international markets has been increasing in recent years due to rapid urbanization and potential recovery of the local real estate market, VN Express reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">Vietnam, the world\u2019s 5th biggest wood exporter, earned $4.8 billion from exporting woodwork products in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 13.4%. Also, Vietnam is\u00a0expected to record wood and woodwork export turnover of $9 billion in 2018, up from nearly $8 billion in 2017.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">Its major export markets include the U.S., Japan, China and the European Union. Vietnam\u2019s exports account for six percent of the global timber and wooden furniture market which is estimated at $120 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Normal\">It now is home to nearly 4,000 wood processing enterprises, mainly in the southern region, of which around 1,500 specialize in making products for export.<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vietnam&#8217;s government is very positive regarding the wood and woodworking industry, as\u00a0earning export revenues of $18-20 billion are forecast by 2025.
