Another factor impacting imports has been the weakness of the rupee.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The rupee has fallen against the US dollar by around 5% over the past month making imports more expensive. Analysts write that \u201cunder these circumstances any rise in C&amp;F prices is ruled out\u201d. section<\/h6>\n<p><strong>Myanmar teak prices<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The consensus in the trade is that more and more end-users\u00a0are moving away from using Myanmar teak as they\u00a0find cheaper alternate species good enough for their\u00a0purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The trading patterns are changing with teak and gurjan\u00a0slipping into the history book because of delivery issues\u00a0and prices compared to alternatives.<\/p>\n<p>Gurjan is being replaced by peeler quality logs from\u00a0Guyana and imports of okoume veneers have encouraged\u00a0some factories to switch completely over to new source.<\/p>\n<p>Indian companies are expanding veneer production in\u00a0Gabon.<\/p>\n<p>However, Indian end-users still equate red colored\u00a0veneer with strength which has driven some millers
