This increase brought the US to rank No. 7 in the most important export countries, as reported by the Association of the German Furniture Industry e.V. (VDM).<\/p>\n<p>Exports to China grew by 24.2%, to EUR 80 million, while exports to South Korea increased by 40.9%, at EUR 10 million.<\/p>\n<p>According to VDM Managing Director Jan Kurth, there is still hope that the opportunities offered by the global free trade will continue to be used by all players around the world to offer consumers the products of their choice at reasonable prices. After all, furniture imports from the US to Germany also posted a neat increase of 47.6% in the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p>Recent issues of the goods exchange are proven by the example of Great Britain. In the first quarter of 2018, German furniture exports to the UK declined by 10.8% to EUR 166 million, reflecting the uncertainty of British consumers triggered by the Brexit debate and the slight depreciation of the pound against the euro.
